I have just started studying Charles Auguste de Beriot's Violin Concerto No.9 Op. 104 and I want to know your thoughts on the piece as I know that it is known to most players, in the practice studio if not in the concert hall. I havent heard a recording to actually know how the violin solo fits with the orchestra so I want to know what you think.
So...what do you think?
Thanks heaps. I bought that exact copy on ebay so it'll get to me in a couple of days. Hopefully it will give me some direction towards playing this piece better.
Cheers!
Id love to hear more people playing his music
v19 to the rescue! We will be recording 4 very rare de Beriot pieces on our first solo album with the very brilliant violinist John Thomson. As for the rest of the concerti, I'll get back to you!
Greetings,
there is a DVD of Zhakar Bron teaching this concerto to a (somewhat) rough learner. It can probably be got through your local Yamaha dealer.
Cheers,
Buri
A very good DVD in my taste I might add.
(Old man, have you seen the Wieniawski 2'nd by Bron, it is even better!)
Mattias my boy,
it is indeed superb. It is my ideal teaching.
Cheers,
Burp
