Bow rehair in Dallas

September 15, 2005 at 09:21 PM · Does anyone know of a place to get a good bow rehair in Dallas? The place I've been going to is really far off and I'd like to find a closer place.

I would recommend going to Jay Rury Violin Shop in Dallas. He does fine work and is reasonable. The address is:

Hope this helps.

September 20, 2007 at 12:39 PM · Hi, Candace. I've had good success with J & A Beare (Oak Lawn area) and Jay Rury (in Richardson). Good luck!

September 20, 2007 at 12:50 PM · Ha! I just looked at the old responses, and I see that Beare and Jay have already been recommended. And yes, Wayne Burak is good, too. Please note that Jay Rury has recently moved his business to Richardson; the address on E. 10th St. mentioned in a previous response is no longer valid. See http://www.ruryviolin.com/

September 21, 2007 at 01:45 PM · Moot point, I suppose, but Beare's in Dallas did rehair my bow on several occasions in the past.

October 11, 2007 at 08:06 PM · Mike Sherrif does amazing/quality bow rehairs. He has been rehairing my bows now for ten years. He works in Arlington at the Mr. E's Music store on Cooper and Arbrook, right across from the Parks Mall.

October 12, 2007 at 02:26 AM · You should give Joshua Waybright a call or email. He is in Allen and does really good work. joshua@jhstrings.com or 972-747-8270.

I have used Joshua in the past and I really like his work.

I highly recommend Joshua Waybright for all violin/bow needs. He is a luthier and master restorer who used to work for Beare's and now has a business of his own. His bow rehair as well as all kinds of violin and bow repair/restoration are simply superb. Besides being a top-notch expert in the field, he loves what he does and has vast knowledge. He is incredibly honest and provides fantastic quality at most reasonable fees.

I second the recommendation for Mr. Waybright! My teacher (who lives in Virginia) trusts only Mr. Waybright with her fiddle/bows!

I can re-camber any bow. I am also a bow maker. You can find my website at: www.oldworldtradingco.com or call me at 214-636-8766
