I heard a really nice recording of the mendelssohn violin concerto the other day on the radio. I wasn't able to get a chance to find out who was playing because the radio station has been recently on strike and as such, they're just playing random classical pieces straight through. The only thing I know is that it is a live recording. So I guess I'm asking if anyone can compile a list of live Mendelssohn violin concerto recordings.
Heifetz -Cantelli, Heifetz-Toscanini, Kogan-Kondrashin, Oistrach-Kondrashin,Borries-Celibidache, to name a few...
there's a video of Kyung-Wha Chung with the Chicago Symphony and Solti.
Hi there,
There is also a nicely played version by Perlman with Barenboim and the Chicago Symphony.

Midori w/ the Berlin Philharmonic =)
There's a nice DVD of Milstein playing it with the Chicago Symphony, and another good one of Arthur Grumiaux playing. Musically, I'm slightly more partial to the Grumiaux. But, in terms of movie quality, the Milstein is better.
There is an Elman concert recording on DOREMI that's simply gorgeous! He plays it like an opera scene, with rhetoric and drama. Listen to his breathtaking broadening up of the second subject!
