Parts for a Roth violin

August 2, 2005 at 05:03 AM · I have aquired a Ernst Heinrich Roth violin made in 1923. It is a reproduction of a Josef Guarnerius made in 1732. The tailpiece and bridge are missing. Can anyone tell me where I might be able to find these parts or authentic reproductions of these parts. I intend to keep the violin, so the value reduction of adding replica parts is not a concern.

According to the Japanese link given there, a Guarneri model dated 1732 is in the group that's the best of three grades. It's probably worth close to five figures, just so you'll know.

Here is a Japanese site that gives the relation of "copy dates" to the quality of the Roth. You don't need to know Kanji to understand this.

If you're interested, you can go to babelfish.altavista.com and it will translate that website into English, although the translation is almost as difficult to understand as the Japanese. Anyway, I ended up finding the missing parts and the violin is in the shop as we speak being returned to playing condition. Thanks again for the help.
