Hi, i'm still enjoying Massimo Quarta's recording of the 24 caprices! Is he playing Paganini's Violin? Because it sounds very powerful just like his recordings of Paganini's 6 concertos. It dosn't say anything on the CD what Violin he plays on the recording. On the Chandos site, it does say he plays on Paganini's Violin for this recording. Whatever Violin he plays on, it sounds really, really good!!! And my Ysaye CD has't come to me yet!

July 18, 2005 at 12:27 AM · He plays the Marechal Bertier-ex von Vecsey Strad in concerts; I'm not sure what he plays on the Caprices CD. I know he played the Cannone on the CD set where he played the Paganini Concerti and other works but i don't think he recorded the Caprices on the Cannone.
btw, is it me or does it seem as if the Cannone being returned to regular circulation more and more? ie Pag winners, Regina Carter, etc.
