Our community orchestra is performing an all Russian music in our next concert. So far we have Swan Lake, Alone in the Bare Mountain and Sabre Dance. We need another larger Russian orchestral piece to fill up the 2nd half of the concert... I'm thinking of Rachmaninov's Symphonic Dance or Isle of the Dead, but not sure if it's gonna be too much for us to handle.
Any other suggestions?
rimsky-korsakov: russian easter overture- that piece rocks!

Yes, Brian is right. Khachaturian was Armenian, if that's who wrote your Sabre Dance.
Yes, Khachaturyan did write Sabre dance.

How about Kallinikov Symphony No. 1? It's a terrific piece!
If you have a good concertmaster, Rimsky-Korsakov, "Shaharazade"
Mussorgsky, "Pictures at an Exhibition"
Stravinksy Firebird Suite (not quite as hard as Rite of Spring or Petruchka)
Shostakovich Festival Overture is a real treat; any of his symphonies would be even better!
Prokofiev's symphonies, esp. 1 and 5, go over well and are very great music.
