Several weeks ago I ordered sheet music for the Sibelius Violin Concerto. Yesterday the music shop got back to me to say that it is out of print, there are coyright issues, and no chance of getting it in the near future. What on earth am I supposed to do?
Maybe they were referring to the edition you requested. Sibelius Concerto is certainly not out of print altogether. There are a lot of places where you can order it online. Shar and Sheet Music Plus would have it.
I was so desperate I said I would take any edition! However,it was good advice to order online - thanks - should have thought of that myself! By the way, what kind of grading system do you have over there? When I saw the Sibelius was grade 6 on the Shar site, I nearly fell off my perch! No way am I ever bringing my fiddle over to the states - I'll stay put where grade six is manageable!
Whatever grading system they use on the Shar site (well first off, I disagree with their levels anyhow) gives 6 as the highest level.
The International Music Company (IMC) still prints the Sibelius.
The IMC Sibelius is indeed under copyright restriction in Europe.
Sorry, I live in the US and that's the edition I played.
Still haven't tried to order it, but I will! Thank heavens 6th grade is the highest in the Shar system - I thought maybe it was similar to the exam grading system we have here, and if Sibelius was grade six.........thought I was going to have to hang up my boots. Maybe I can relax a little.
