Playing with virtual orchesrta

July 4, 2005 at 04:02 AM · Dear friends.

Does somebody know where I can find recordings of virtual orchestra accompaniment for some well known concertos?

Actually , I have Sibelius and Tchaikovsky recorded in this way , bad they are very bad in rhythm and tempo , and it’s so difficult for any violinist to play with them.

Best Regards

July 4, 2005 at 05:22 AM · I just did this. Just surf around and hopefully some midi files are "well performed". I recorded myself the 2nd mvt of this concerto with a midi file played with my new toy the EWQLS Symphonic Orchestra Silver (music samples). Hope you enjoy it (but don't expect much practising) -

This is another one I play with a free sample, not sounding so good, The Beethoven cto 1st mvt -

July 11, 2005 at 12:57 PM · I played again with this "virtual pianist".

Free of charge. I have a Soundblaster soundcard which allow me to use a "soundfont" of a very good piano. The piano midi file is just downloaded on internet.

July 13, 2005 at 04:38 PM · I added a 4 minute recording of Mendelssohn violin concerto 1st mvt to the same web page.

The orchestra was made with a free sound font.

July 16, 2005 at 01:11 PM · I recorded the whole Mendelssohn violin concerto 1st mvt yesterday and I replaced it at

Today I recorded half of the Butterfly Lovers violin concerto with a orchestra midi file and posted it there also. You can hear it and find the link to the midi file also.

July 17, 2005 at 10:27 AM · Just added a little excerpt of the Mendelssohn concerto 3rd mvt. Same web page.

July 21, 2005 at 08:16 PM · It's very kind from you to help me, friends.

Dear Linus Liu, could you tell me please if there is some way to get the midi file only (without solo part) witch exists in this link

http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Beethoven_Violinissimo

Thanks.

Above is where the good Beethoven concerto midi file is. There is another one, not bad -

http://www.lvbeethoven.com/Oeuvres/Beethoven-Midi-Concerti.html

Download this software to play the file and silent the solo violin so you can play in its place -

You can write to me if you need more help, though I am not a great expert. Do you have a sound blaster card (cheap one will do, about $30) then you can use a good sound font. That is what I got in my Beethoven.

July 24, 2005 at 12:02 AM · Oh, I just added about 2 minutes of the Brahms violin concerto in my site above.

July 24, 2005 at 04:51 PM · Dear Linus Liu, thank you so much, these are realy very useful links.

On the way, I'd like to know if you tried the Music Minus One, I tried that with concertos by Sibelius and Tchaikovsky, and I found that beside the bad sound quality, they are very bad performed in both rhythm and tempo, and this forces you to play not normally, not like you feel.

Pleased tell me about your experience .

Best regards.

July 24, 2005 at 05:00 PM · I did not try the music minus one. I can tweak many ways with midi, but not a wave file like Music minus one.

July 25, 2005 at 01:44 AM · Pls tell me or upload or email to me some recording of you playing after you did it. I am interested.

July 29, 2005 at 12:22 PM · dear Linus Liu.

Actually, I did not think to record myself as you did, but I think seriously to record Beethoven's concerto with this midi file, and I will surely inform you.

Anyway, if you have time, try to check this http://www.violinist.com/discussion/response.cfm?ID=7300

Maybe you shall be interested.

July 30, 2005 at 02:20 PM · Very nice, thks very much. But I also like to hear you too.

July 30, 2005 at 09:53 PM · Of course, it's my pleasure.

June 8, 2013 at 03:46 PM · Dear friends,

I need to know how to get the orchestral set of parts and score of the Concerto for Violin, Piano and Strings by Feliz Mendelssohn.

Thank you very much for any help !

All the best to everybody from Buenos Aires,

Gabriela Olcese

You can play concertos with real orchestra recordings that listen to you and fit your rubato and phrasing, including those you mentioned (Sibelius, Beethoven, Mendelssohn) and more.

Cadenza for iPhone and iPad

We just made all the music free last week, and added some very useful new pro features, too.

Here is where you get it:

Enjoy!
