Does anyone have any views about the Sphinx Performing Academy? It's a summer camp thats taking place in Natick, Ma. I'm attending this summer and was wondering about what I'm getting myself into.

June 19, 2005 at 07:16 PM · My son attended the Sphinx performance academy last year. It was a great experience for a minority that wants to pursue classical music. From what I've heard the Natick campus was comfortable and there are many opportunities to interact with dancers that are also attending a summer program there. I have heard no complaints about the food. There were serious students and some that weren't serious: but that's life. The program is run very much like most programs that stress individual development. Practice in the Am..Chamber music in the P.M. and workshops and free time in the evening. The master class with Mr. Sanford Allen was the highlight of my son's summer. Mr. Allen was the first Black to play with the New York Phil. The mentoring and friendships were most important if you plan to pursue classical music. My son returned more serious about classical music and practicing and will attend Meadowmount this summer. Have a Great Summer!!!!!
