Third Respighi violin concerto??

February 3, 2005 at 05:25 PM · Hello everyone!

I saw just this day for the first time that another violin concerto (Beside the Concerto gregoriano and all'antica) by Ottorino Respighi exists - just as a fragment, but a violin concerto.

Can anyone give more informations about this work - perhaps how long it is.

I think I will get the recording of that piece in the near future, but would think about it, when it is just 3 minutes long.

Best,

Tobias

With its very attractive mix of the novel and the familiar, this collection should appeal not only to the Respighi completist but also to lovers of the Late-Romantic repertoire. A Nice Surprise."

Hi, updated info on Ottorino Respighi's unfinished first violin concerto, Concerto per Violino (in La Maggiore) of 1903. It was completed in 2009 by Italian composer/conductor Salvatore Di Vittorio (upon invitation of Respighi's descendants and archive curator). The completed concerto is published by Panastudio in Italy.

Excerpts of the World Premiere of this completed version can be seen on YouTube:

The completed concerto along with other Respighi rediscoveries will be released on Naxos during the Summer of 2011.
