Central chin rest

August 31, 2004 at 08:34 PM · One of my students requires a central chin rest, however these seem to be very hard to find. A Flesch is unsuitable because it has a ridge in the middle; we are looking for a conventionally-shaped/large chin rest, but one which is mounted over the tailpiece. Have looked on the net with no success, but I know I've seen one somewhere before - I'm sure they exist. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I bought my Flesch Flat there- very happy with it!

I find it very comfortable and, being more of a leather "sling" it's pretty easy on the chin/neck compared to hard wood or plastic. It has really done wonders for the infamous so-called "violin hickey."

September 2, 2004 at 01:33 AM · Ah, cool - thanks for the tip... although I now tend to order all materials online as it's cheaper. Check out the String Zone; I get Wolf shoulder rests for £14 rather than £26 as in some specialist shops.
