Does anyone know of Abraham Jaffe?
He is a very dedicated violin teacher from Riga, who graduated from the Moscow conservatory, where he studied with A. Yampolsky.
After emigrating via Israel, he settled in Berlin, where he became in the 1970's assitant concertmaster of the Radio Symphony orchestra in Berlin under Maazel and later Ashkenazy, a position he held until 2000.In the 1980's he started teaching privately, having enormous success in Germany with young children.
His most talented students were Viviane Hagner, David Yonan, Jermolay Albiker, Raphael Christ and his daughter Sophia Jaffe, all of whom have proven themselves in national and international violin competitions and in major concert halls as soloists and fine chamber musicians, as well as teachers. It is said, that this years Eurovisions contest winner, was also a Jaffe student. His ability, to motivate a child, to teach about the quality of using practice time economically, to practice scales "right" and musical phrasing and expression was legendary.Any Jaffe student who walked out his house can probably confirm, that he or she gained something from each lesson. Not only a great teacher, but also a wonderful man.
