Alfredo Gianotti of Milan

May 16, 2004 at 03:02 AM · Gianotti was a luthier by hobby, as I believe wood carving strongly interested him as a young man. He did win many awards when he adopted violinmaking full time, some of which are fairly impressive.

I played a Gianotti violin when I was at Brobst in Northern Virginia about four months ago. I'm not sure of its pricing, but I belive it lay somewhere around $15K.
