Where to buy violin in Paris?

December 14, 2006 at 06:32 PM · I'm interested in purchasing a violin to practice on while I'm in Paris. Tone of the instrument (prefer dark tone) is important, not appearance. In fact, if a rough appearance lowers price, that's good. Will ship instrument back to US at end of trip.

do remember that the US$ is pretty bad right now, and things might be even more expensive there then they are here.

December 15, 2006 at 10:48 PM · David,

When I went to Paris and visited the Rue de Rome, I took some photos which I posted on the net; here are the addresses:

I don't have any shops to suggest for instruments. I enjoyed buying music at "La Flute de Pan" (they have separate string and wind shops).

On the first page are pictures from the Cite de la Musique museum, which is full of rare and unusual instruments. I enjoyed it a lot; I should have stayed longer there!

Have fun in Paris - go to Angelina's for hot chocolate, about US $10 for 2 cups!
