Where to find....

December 10, 2006 at 05:58 AM · Ok, I know this isn't exactally Violin-related. But my band teacher has told me my senior year, I get to play a solo Tuba Concerto with band Accomp. Assuming I can find one. I have found one piece so far, Fantasia. And I want a classical concerto (by Bethoveen or Mozart if possible, I know Tubas weren't around back then).

Thanks for the Help! Hopefully there are a few to chose from!

I thought the Vaughan Williams concerto had strings in it, so these might be arrangments for this ensemble.

December 10, 2006 at 08:15 AM · Hi Richard,

there're loads of transcriptions (Händel-oboe-concerto, Mozart- & Strauss-horn-concertos) for tubists. Check out the recommendations for tubists for their entrance examination at the conservatory. You'll find things like these (Csardas, Mozart, horn concertos, Schubert-Ave Maria or Telemann-trumpet-concertos or might arrange some piano-parts of these for orchestra.

But nothing will beat the Vaughan-Williams - nice piece.

December 10, 2006 at 09:02 PM · wow, I love the Vaughan-Williams. Anywhere to find the music? It sounds like it might be a little high for me, But I would love to try it!

I am trying to stay away from Avia Maria, lol. All my band music, is off beats or keeping the beat. So for this performance, I want a real challenge! Something that I am going to have to practice for!
