When I first started playing violin I was four years old. My initial teacher was a very strict disciplinarian, and we butted heads often. Though she was more aggressive than I would have liked, she did teach me how to play with proficient left-arm position.
I took a break from violin with little practicing and defiance towards lessons until I was in fifth grade and switched to my current teacher, whom I am most happy with. I also study on the side with my school orchestra teacher.
I'm currently working on: Barber Violin Concerto First Movement (on/off for about a year), Beethoven's Violin Romanze Op. 50, and Bach's Violin Concerto in A minor (I put it off, but now I finally like it!)
My favorite piece is (cliché) the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. When I first heard it, I was inspired to play violin seriously again. And since then, my interest has not faded.
