As a professional violinist, I performed with the Utah Symphony, Indpls Symphony, National Arts Centre Orchestra of Canada, Baltimore Symphony, Aspen Festival Orchestra (3 summers), and the Buffalo Philharmonic, during which time I was affiliated with the Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra for more than 40 years as coach, adjudicator, auditions commitee chair, and general all-around mentor to countless students over the years.
As a result of my involvement with our GBYO, I have discovered that my true niche in life as a musician is as a teacher/chamber music coach. As it happens, I’m fascinated with how each of us - student and teacher alike - approaches the myriad problems, technical and musical, presented to us by the great composers of our art. In perusing this great publication that Laurie affords us, I especially enjoy the articles from Paul Stein, who has a real knack for “knocking it out of the park”!
Kudos and congrats to Laurie and all the staff for a truly wonderful publication!
