Merav Singer

I teach violin in the East Bay. I grew up in Israel listening to my parents' bluegrass band. I have an M.M. in violin from Cincinnati Conservatory and a PhD in ethnomusicology from UC Berkeley, writing about Israeli women singer-songwriters. I have performed in symphonies, Early Music ensembles, chamber music groups, and international folk dance bands, and I especially enjoy strolling violin.

I love connecting through music, and I am invested in helping students at all levels have a rich and rewarding experience learning violin. I integrate music theory and history into my lessons, and can give you supplementary videos to help you practice. I am happy to work on any repertoire that excites you, or guide you with suggestions. I also offer lessons via Skype or Zoom if you live outside the area.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions at I look forward to hearing from you!
