I'm a 30 something adult "dabbler". I started playing around the age of eight or so, and have been playing off and on (more on than off) for the past 20 odd years. I took lessons pretty heavily through elementary, middle and high school, nothing through college, and now back to weekly lessons again for the past 2 years after a long break.

In my childhood, playing viola was something that my mother 'made me do'. As an adult, it is what I do to keep myself sane in the high tech roller coaster. My viola has traveled with me literally all over the face of this planet, from east to west coast in the US, up to Alaska, Germany and Malaysia. At this point, it is like another limb. I now also have a cello that's wanting to become another torso.

Life is short, play in tune.
