Mr. Amkraut received his Bachelor of Music Education from The University of Florida in December 2007, having studied both viola and French horn. In January of 2008 Mr. Amkraut began his teaching career as an Itinerant Elementary String Specialist with the Orange County Public Schools system. The following fall semester Mr. Amkraut was hired to revitalize and rejuvenate the Avalon Middle School orchestra program. Under his tutelage, the orchestra program at Avalon Middle School increased enrollment by 30% in one school year and achieved it’s first Superior ratings. Mr. Amkraut currently serves as the All County Middle School Auditioned Orchestra chair, the Florida Orchestra Association District 8 Chair-Elect, and is continuing his responsibilities as orchestra director at Avalon Middle School.
In addition to his public school teaching career, Ross Amkraut has a long history of performing. Mr. Amkraut toured the United States and Europe as a child with the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra serving as a principal violinist and violist. Mr. Amkraut has performed with The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, The Ocala Symphony Orchestra, The Gainesville Symphony Orchestra, The Central Florida Symphony Orchestra, The University of Florida Symphony Orchestra, The University of Central Florida Symphony Orchestra, and with Le Quartet Rogue string quartet. Currently, Mr. Amkraut is pursuing a Master of Arts in Music focusing on Violin Performance and Pedagogy at The University of Central Florida and is currently is in his second year as concertmaster of the UCF Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, Mr. Amkraut is sought after as a musician for various private events throughout the state of Florida.
Mr. Amkraut is the director of Symphonic Strings Music Studio and maintains a small private teaching studio of select students in the greater Orlando area. Mr. Amkraut’s students have consistently received superior ratings in the Florida Federation of Music Clubs adjudications and with the National Piano Guild Auditions.
