Jennifer Formhals

I am a 32 year old mom(married for 15 years!)with 3 boys(12,9,5)who keep me busy. I've been playing the violin since 4th grade(1982)and I still love it. I help the music teacher at the elementary schools(mainly)and the 6th gr. at the middle school. We do not have an orchestra class in our school district, so the teacher thought it would be a good idea to take a select choice of talented 4th grade students who would like to start a group. We practiced through the summer, 2 afternoons a month during school and managed to play for the Christmas & spring concerts. It was a big success! I also learned to play the cello when we started this group, which has been fun but challenging! This school year, they're now 5th graders and now I'm teaching 6 of them two songs for the Christmas concert this year! I also play the keyboard for the concerts. I've been doing this for 5 years and love it. Doing all this has opened a door for me to do lessons in my home-piano & violin, with mainly elementary students(which is ok with me!!) That about concludes my music history. I have not gone to college or studied with anyone, so I'm not a "professional" with a degree in music, I just love teaching the kids. I do need to improve on my theory and techniques, because I transpose and do a lot of stuff "by ear"-which drives the music teacher "nuts" sometimes! This is why I would like to join this site, so I can ask questions to all you knowledgeable teachers out there! :)
