Dorothy Barth began violin as a child in Amsterdam and continued her studies with Karel Blaas at Kansas University in Lawrence, her first American home. At age 14 she moved to Southern California, where she continued violin studies with Alice Schoenfeld and Kenneth Fiske. She earned her music degree from Stanford University, where she studied with Kenneth Goldsmith. Later, she studied for 3 years with Dr. David Margetts (California State University Fresno).
Dorothy performs as a wedding violinist and a member of various orchestras and chamber groups. She delights in playing diverse genres, including Renaissance, Baroque, Celtic, romantic, nostalgic, and folkloric music.
Dorothy has completed six volumes of Celtic arrangements for violin/recorder or two violins as well as three volumes of short original compositions. Most of these are currently available on her website.
