Wow, there is so much helpful info on this site!!
I am returning to playing with a group after many years and have much to learn and re-learn. After a neck injury I was told I'd never play again. Doc was wrong. While it WAS too painful to play initially, I sold my student violin to pay bills. I promised myself when things were better I'd purchase another instrument. 7 years later, at Christmas I went to a music store to try an instrument. Alone in a practice room I played Christmas carols as though I'd never put it down. I wept with joy. I am excited about returning to the group experience, learning again and having the opportunity to be part of something larger than myself. Alison Krause is my hero!
