Mili Leitner

Mili is a third year undergraduate scholar studying with Pieter Schoeman at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London. She has performed in Israel, Cyprus, China, Turkey, Trinidad, France, Spain, Italy, Guernsey and the UK, and won fourth prize in the 2012 International Competition 'Premio Citta di Pavoda'.

She has received tuition and masterclasses from eminent musicians including Ben Zander, Ofer Falk, Boris Brovstyn, Rodney Friend and Peter Cropper. In recent summers, Mili was selected to participate in the Jerusalem Academy of Music International Summer Institute for Strings and Cyprus International Summer Academy.

Her orchestral experience includes leading the London Young Soloists Ensemble and Trinity Laban's String Ensemble and Sinfonia. She has held principal positions in the International Youth Symphony Orchestra, Focus Opera and National Schools' Symphony Orchestra, co-led the orchestra of the first professional opera production in Trinidad & Tobago, and led Trinity Laban's String Ensemble in performances of contemporary chamber works at the 2012 'Out of the Cage' Festival.

A keen advocate of contemporary classical music, Mili gives a number of world premieres in 2013 including Mark Grey's 'Hollental' with pianist Naufal Mukumi, and a new work for solo violin by Tim Maryon. She will be exploring cross-arts collaboration with her string quartet, the Karapetyan Quartet, with whom she has a busy concert schedule.

Mili is grateful for her scholarship support and sponsors, including EMI and HSBC. She plays a 1719 Camilli violin which she is generously loaned by the Benslow Trust.
