Bernadette Baker, violin, moved to Australia in August 2005, and quickly established herself as an active musician and violin teacher in Melbourne. Bernadette received her Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, Connecticut. While at Hartt, she studied with renowned pedagogue and Carl Flesch student, Eric Rosenblith, who recently re-translated and edited Flesch’s masterpiece “The Art of Violin Playing.” Bernadette served as Principal 2nd Violin of the Hartt Symphony Orchestra. Her piano trio at Hartt received the “Best of Chamber Music” honours during her senior year.
Bernadette performs regularly with the Melbourne Opera Company and the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic. She also founded and performs in the violin duo “Operatic Strings,” and arranged all of the music (taken from the operatic and music theatre repertoire) herself. Before moving to Australia, Bernadette taught privately and was a member of the Kenosha Symphony Orchestra in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
