I am an art critic and exhibition curator, an amateur singer and (quite recently) a fanatical listener to the violin. I played the fiddle for just under a year as a teenager, but gave it up when I changed schools. The voice was my true musical calling. But on hearing a concert by a young virtuoso last year I became totally fascinated by the violin, have added recordings to my collection, and listen now as much to solo violin performances (live and recorded) as any other instrument, except perhaps the voice. I read Arnold Steinhardt's book, Violin Dreams, with great pleasure, and on googling some violin issues arrived at this splendid site. Anyhow, that's enough about me
