I gave up violin back in the 70s when I realized I was not good enough to be a professional. I pursued a career in a technical field. Now I am retired in my 60s and I have decided to play again. I have made the pleasant discovery that my old Czech violin is actually very good violin. I recently acquired a carbon fiber bow for a mere $100 which I have found to be very good, perhaps as good as bows that I have tried costing $500 or more in several pro shops.
