Mollie McCabe

I learned the violin at school, but gave up in my teens. I always had a hankering to return, and finally I did so, in retirement. I've been playing for eight years now, and after enjoying myself with baroque, early music & klezmer, I have settled on folk music, which is my true love - Playford and Scottish Fiddle Music of the Golden Age (18th century) in particular.

I had an inspiring fiddle teacher who is a professional HIP baroque violist and violinist. I have now moved back to Yorkshire, but hope in time to find another good teacher.

In the mean time, I have enjoyed playing with U3A groups in York and Ripon every fortnight (before Lockdown), and I feel blessed to be able to practise folk tunes most days with my beloved husband John, who plays the English concertina.

My fiddle my joy.
