Although I am not really a violin player,(I'm a clavichord and harpsichord player)I run a violin restoration workshop, called Taylor's Fine Violins, out of my house in Redlands. I have invested buying fixer upper violins then doing the restorations myself and offering them for sale. I have over 15 yrs experience in the violin business, studying with Christian Martin Kob, Burdell Tenney and RE Evans. I specialize in baroque and transitional setup violins with the shorter necks and fingerboards, I especially look for nice old violins that have a one piece neck top block, then fit them with a shorter wedge fingerboard, baroque bridge, tailpiece and gut strings.I also do modern violins though I specialize in 100yr. old and older instruments. They offer a real alternative to new Chinese violins. At first I was having trouble connecting with musicians, and I started selling on ebay. But my local business is growing and I hope to be recognized as the person to come to for quality instruments and repairs in the Inland Empire area where I live.
