Kelsey Zachary
Kelsey began playing at age 7. She has performed in the Youth Symphony of the Okanagan, Kelowna Pops Orchestra and Strings the Thing Festival orchestra. In addition, Kelsey played for 2 years as a mentor student in the Okanagan Symphony. In 2003 she attended the Kincardine Summer Music Festival where her teachers included Simon Fryer, Anne Shih and Gwen Hoebig. In 2005 Kelsey attended the Domaine Forget International Music Festival where her principle teachers included Andrew Dawes, Philippe Djokic and Karine Rousseau. Kelsey has also participated in summer programs held through the Okanagan School of the Arts and the Penticton Academy of Music. She has performed in masterclasses for Anne Shih, Livia Sohn, Regis Pasquier and Carl-Oscar Osterlind among others. More recently Kelsey has been a student and now a teaching assistant at UBC's summer music program "Young Artist Experience", an intensive chamber music program designed to challenge students musically and socially. In addition to her interests in musical performance, Kelsey is also active as a composer and pianist. Some upcoming performances of her works can be heard at Vancouver Pro Musica's "Sonic Boom" Festival and the Musica Mundana's "Subliminal".
Kelsey currently studying violin with Jasper Wood and composition with Ryan Trew and Stephen Chatman at the University of British Columbia.
