Karis Crawford

Karis is a Suzuki certified teacher for violin, viola and cello, and performs regularly as a member of professional orchestras and as a soloist in Europe, East Africa, and the United States.

Currently, Karis is living in Berlin, Germany, teaching and looking for opportunities to start an El Sistema inspired program for refugees. She travels often to the United States and Kenya to attend Suzuki institutes and conferences, as well as continue the teacher training she started in Kenya.

She has been involved with the Kenya National Youth Orchestra and was the Director of Strings from 2010-2015, leading sectionals, rehearsals and various events for the orchestra. She was also the concertmaster of the Nairobi Symphony Orchestra from 2011-2016 and was the leader and co-founder of Zeze, a string chamber music group which performs traditional classical music and Kenyan music. She loves performing in chamber music groups and teaching music.
