I have been playing music since I was 10 years old. I started in school programs in Albuquerque, New Mexico playing violin and guitar and shortly there after started in private studies with masters in the local area. I studied guitar with Master guitarist Darryl Dominguez and violin with the late Maestro Joseph Zoeckler, assistant concert master of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra.
After moving to the southern New Mexico/West Texas area in 2003, pursuing music and psychology, I studied violin with the previous concertmaster of the El Paso Symphony, Laurence Gibson as well as the current conductor/musical director of the Juarez Symphony, Ezperanza Azteca (Cd. Juarez) and Music Dept. head for UACJ, Maestro Guillermo Quezada.
I have been fortunate enough to have had incredible teachers who have more than anything shown me what hard work and dedication can get you. Throughout this time I performed with the Las Cruces Symphony and professional mariachi ensemble Los Arrieros where I honed my performance skills for this genre while getting to perform coast to coast in many major cities/venues including a week in Washington D.C. for the Smithsonian Institute.
During my 10 years with Los Arrieros I functioned as Violin section leader as well as a composer/arranger and a traveling clinician for the group. I taught music in the public school system in east El Paso for 5 years, building a Mariachi Program and more than doubling its size since my start there. I was also a private teacher with students who went on to music careers in the military, recording/producing albums, ethno-musicology, and scholarships into Berklee College of Music and North Texas.
In January of 2013 I was selected to perform with my favorite Mariachi ensemble since childhood - Mariachi Cobre. My audition was for both Disney World music executives as well as my two heroes: Founder/Director Randy Carrillo & Musical Director Stephen Carrillo. My wife and I made the huge move to Orlando, Florida for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I keep honing my skills in the Mariachi genre with my classical background in technique and because of my respect and gratitude that I hold for all of my teachers, I am eager to share what I learn with others.
I am married to the most beautiful Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist and we have 2 lovable Labradors.
I love composing/arranging, the outdoors and riding my Harley. My favorite composer of all time is and will always be Beethoven.
I am open to private teaching, clinics, recording studio projects and any collaboration projects as well as composing/arranging: orchestral; pop; rock; mariachi; fusion; other.
