I spent 3 years "learning" the violin aat Grammar School, then gave it up to play Cornet in a Brass band for 30 years or so... until ill health stopped that. then taught myself keyboards untill an accident to my right wrist prevented any musical instrument for about 20 years. Last Christmas 2005 I bought myself a violin and began teaching myself again. I am confined to home most of the time with health problems, and at 68 I'm unlikely to get an orchestral job,(!) but in the six months since purchasing the violin, I have learnt to play Irish, Scottish and Celtic music... and.. I'm having more fun than I've had for years. Oh, I'm a retired motor engineer.
