Darlene Morrow Brandt began violin study at 11 with Jerry Kupchynsky and also studied with his teacher, Samuel Applebaum and in Chicago with Morris Gomberg. She holds a Bachelors Degree in violin performance and music education from Murray State University, Murray, KY, where she was concertmaster of the University Orchestra and first violinist of the Honors String Quartet and a member of the Jackson (TN) Symphony. Ms. Brandt has won several prestigious competitions and performed at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall and other noted venues.
As violinist/composer/arranger, Ms. Brandt toured and recorded with Grammy Award-winning Jimmy Sturr Orchestra and was violinist with the Odessa Klezmer Orchestra. Her discograpy includes "Hooked On Polkas," which features her own composition, "Fiddlin' Fred," the album's breakout single. Ms. Brandt is a BMI composer with a celebrated 42 year career as a public school string specialist. She's currently a member of the Trenton Symphony/Capital Philharmonic Orchestra of New Jersey, Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea and numerous other orchestras.
