For my Students - Approaching the Instrument

I write mainly for my students, but I hope that it edifies all of you. I am not great at formal English writing, but I thought this little poem might be nice for my beginners.

Approaching the instrument.....an original Poem

When you see a violin (viola, cello, or bass) what do you see?

I see a tradition spanning 500 years.

Countless performers who have played, but
They were beginners once, just like you.
Sparkling eyes and excited looks,
They wondered what music was, just like you.

Some were frustrated at times, but
Often saw progress, just like you.
Most of them had teachers, and
All of them to practiced, just like you.

Some became famous, but
All are human, just like you.
Others just loved music, and
Only played for fun, just like you.

Yet, time and time again,
They approached their strings, just like you.
To make a sound, and
Always improve, just like us.
