V.com weekend vote: Did any of your New Year's resolutions involve the violin?

The Weekend Vote

When two of my young students walked in today for a lesson, their mother announced with convincing drama, "They've practiced every day this year!"

I was quite impressed, until I realized -- this year is only a few days old!

But why not give it a good start, why not make a practice resolution? A few days down, just 360+ to go, we can do this!

How about you, did you have any violin-related resolutions this year?

This is turning out to be a "low-resolution" weekend vote. VGA at best.

Oh .. only three votes have been cast. In that case, let's see if things come into sharper focus!

I've long considered it not very appropriate to make New Year's resolutions at my age, whether involving the violin or anything else!

However, goals are more important than date-driven resolutions, so I intend to continue pursuing the specific music goals I've set up in the last couple of years.

Promise, yes. Resolution, no.

My "resolutions," such as they are, involve keeping on doing the things that I'm doing that I like/are working, and tweaking the systems that aren't working so well. That's an ongoing, round-the-year process. I appreciate the New Year's reminder to take inventory, but it's not a lot bigger than that.

Mine are (1) to think more

and (2) to practice less.

My resolution started yesterday, as I ordered Carl Flech's ScaleSystem for Viola (sorry for the viola. it's just so smooth <3)

After the Hanon's Exercices for Piano, this will be the perfect torture for my lazy fingers <3

Happy New Year everyone !

3 of mine are playing the Sibelius really well in a few competitions, putting on my own full length recital, and making a recording of a Bach Partita.
