so i just made principal second in the pit for die fledermaus.... and he didn't audition me. pretty weird... and scary! i'm going to be practicing overload because i'm so freaking afraid to screw up.
but hopefully it will be good for my resume (trying to get a job in a pit orchestra this summer with a local theater company... beats the hell out of making coffee all week long)
yeah so my teacher said today i was progressing as a whole better than any of her students... oh yeah! ok that's it.
so my teacher here at SU, Olivia Hajioff, a student of daniel heifetz, is rebuilding my technique as we speak. i'm presently doing lots of scratching, slow bowing, slow practice, unlearning all my bad habits... it's a tough process, but i see the upperclassmen here and how incredible their playing is, and i always end up sticking with it, staying in the practice room a few extra hours.... i have a feeling this is going to be a great experience... well, except for solfege in music theory, but that's a whole other story...
