Seriously, though, if anyone is interested in coming to our concert tomorrow night, it's at 8 p.m. at Bridgewater High School. Directions are on our website, http://www.cjso.org
The program is called "Second Impressions", and includes Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto no. 2 and Brahms' Symphony no. 2. Incidentally, I found out that this is the same program that Philadelphia is opening their 2005-06 season with. Just remember, you heard it here first!
It's strange to think that I won't conduct a concert again after tomorrow night. I've found that I really like conducting; it's incredibly exciting and humbling to approach the orchestra as a single instrument. It also amazes me that with a wave of my hand, I can bring 60 musicians into unison or bring us all to a grinding halt when I screw up. What a rush! And what a responsibility. I've gotten more gray hairs in the last few months than I care to admit. But as of Monday, I go back to being a member of the orchestra and the board, albeit with a little more involvement in the planning side of things.
Just so you know: Tomorrow, 8 pm, Bridgewater High School. If you say you saw it on Violinist.com, admission is buy one-get one free!
