I am a native of Cleveland, Ohio and a union member. This last week our world renowned orchestra went on strike. As a member of a union, I appreciate the hard work that my representatives and officials do to keep a decent wage available to me and my union brothers and sisters. Seeing that I am in the building trades though, I do not really have any background with the American Federation of Musicians. I wonder what is the perspective of a professional musician in the AFM? How did the news about the Cleveland Orchestra hit home with any of you professionals? Also as a union member do you think striking is productive or counterproductive?
