No way! Looks like your persistence is paying off. You know of course, that when Mr. Bell checks out v.com, he is going to read your blog.

Well, I deleted his screenname and I only put snippets of the convo up, so I don't think he'll care too much. I hope not, anyway.

Oh, I meant that as a good thing. BTW, did you tell him about the turkey sandwich costume he'll be wearing? :-)

I think so! As I said, I'll keep you "posted." Remember, he never said that he was definitely going on the show. I'm still happy the Oprah people listened to me! According to Josh, I sent them 500 e-mails. Whoops.

As great as this is, if he's on this season, then I will not get to see it because I couldn't find Oprah on German television. I can get a tape, though, and y'all can tell me how good it is ;-)

Keith - Haha, if he reads that, he'll be like "What???" I didn't fill him in on that. Wow, okay. I'M SO EXCITED!

Last night, after I logged off, I was getting ready for bed and I couldn't remember anything that I had done. Like, I would think "Have I brushed my teeth yet?", "Did I close the window?", "Did I take a shower?" etc. I was/am really excited!!

Sydney,
I have been trying to ask Cindy Crawford out for dinner for about 10 years now. No responses yet (only a few restraining orders). Do you think you can help??

I am really afraid now. What if it wasn't him? If that's the case, I truely will have lost all trust I have in the internet. Some things are suspicious. I never gave the Oprah show my screenname. Ugh. I feel terrible. I have 2 good questions to ask him though.

Was the email that you got from him to confirm that it really *was* him from the right email address? Check the headers of the message, it'll tell you what servers the email travelled through.

Is your screen name tied to the email account that you used when you emailed Oprah? It might not be too difficult to get your AIM name with the right tidbits of info.

I agree -- it's a little too good to be true. Still, if was him, that'd be cool. And I can certainly believe that you sent 500 emails to Oprah! :)

Sydney,

That's difficult to say. It is a little hard to believe that a guy with kids and a touring career is going to have AOL messenger. I think he'd probably try to contact you through other means, but you never know. You are certainly a model of persistence.

Well, he did emial you?
From Karin Lin

In response to Pieter's skepticism: First, Josh doesn't have kids. Second, he definitely uses the Internet in many ways to communicate. I don't know specifically about AOL Messenger, but it's not hard to believe at all.

It's possible that someone could have been impersonating him, though that would be a pretty cruel and pointless thing to do. I'm curious, what time did this conversation take place, Sydney? Because if the chat was any later than the morning of 3/12 U.S. time, it's unlikely he would have been packing for Tennessee.

I'm sure we'll hear details from more official channels soon if it's going to happen. Congratulations again!

Sydney, I guess at this point it's impossible to know for sure if that was JB or not.

But if it was, and he does decide to do OW's show, and I was producing the show, I'd make you and your quest part of the story. Actually, you're the hook, and I'd bring you both onto the show.

Now, that would be pretty cool.

Thanks, you guys. This is really difficult. Right now, I'm leaning towards it's not him. I have at least 3 people (who have good ways) working on this.

I think that if he would've wanted to contact me, he would've used e-mail. Isn't that good enough? I don't know how he, or anyone besides people that I gave it to, would have my screenname. Really, why would anyone pull crap like that? If this is a "joke," I really think that it has crossed the line.

I did receive an e-mail from "Joshua," however, that was when I was IMing him. I have sent him another e-mail since then, but I have recieved no response.

Sydney, you are trying to do a good thing and the people who matter support that. Don't be too worried. The Internet is a crazy place. Don't I know it!

My head is spinning following all this. I'm not even sure I know what's going on at this point. All I know is that boy, Sydney, you produce better real-life drama and entertainment than Oprah. Oh wait - I've never watched her.

So is the verdict now that it was all a hoax? Whoa - what a vicarious roller-coaster ride, this blog entry. Sydney, I'll be all eyes about your next entry...
