Here is a song by Eric Bogle for Veteran's Day. The chorus describes the traditional Scottish funeral service for men killed in war. I've discovered that I can express anger and a certain form of grieving better on the viola than on the violin.
Peace,
Pauline
Hi, Thanks
Very true and... people are so stupid they start again... The soldiers aren't themselves the stupid ones of course... I do know they train hard and risk their life! But it's rather the stupid people who send them to war who should pay very very much for this! In 2010 context, by attacking some countries, we give them good reasons to want to come and make terrorist acts home. Each context is different (of course saving a whole culture from brutal extermination per example was a good/legitimate reason to fight... Much more than for things like oil that will polute the world) Now, in 2010, I think that it's really dangerous to go "tickle" some middle east countries... What if we just let them alone in their things and maybe they would let us alone... Why not ask them if it's that they want? But governments are to arrogant to admit failure and will pay to send more young soldiers there...
Some will say it's a political thing but this is no excuse for such a thing!
Anyway, just my opinion...
Yes, I hope people will remember all this horror and realize that much progress still has to be done!

Anne-Marie, I agree with you. I am not opposed to all wars, but I think that we should consider the toll in human lives lost or screwed up very seriously before going to war. The music is the message here.
