Concours musical international de Montréal (Montreal International Music Competition) has begun its 2023 Violin edition this week, with three rounds that will conclude with the announcement of the laureates on May 4.
TheThe competition features 24 violinists between the ages of 17 and 27, from 11 different countries. They will compete for a total of nearly $160,000 in prizes and awards. For a list of the violinists, click here.

The Concours musical international de Montréal also is simultaneously holding a "Mini Violini" competition, featuring five children ages 10 to 15. Videos from that also can be found on the Youtube Channel (click here). Participants include Mark Chia, 10, of Singapore; Sofia Demetriades, 14, or the United Kingdom; Corina Deng, 15, of Canada; Himari, 11, of Japan; and Edna Unseld, 11, of Switzerland.

The jury for the 2023 Violin edition includes Richard Rodzinski (chairman), Koichiro Harada (Japan), Yura Lee (Korea/USA), Malcolm Lowe (Canada), Mihaela Martin(Romania), Lucie Robert (Canada), Dmitry Sitkovetsky (United Kingdom/USA) and Krishna Thiagarajan (Germany/USA).
