Melissa White has said that she was inspired to play the violin when she saw Itzhak Perlman on PBS's "Sesame Street" - now she is featured on PBS herself, in a special about Black and Latinx musicians. It features White, as well as violinist Jannina Norpoth and cellist Thomas Mesa. The three musicians each describes what brought them to a career in classical music, and their continuing involvement with the Detroit-based Sphinx Organization. Check it out:
