Pianist Garrick Ohlsson joins the Takács Quartet for a concert including Amy Beach's Piano Quintet in F sharp minor Op. 67 and Sir Edward Elgar's: Piano Quintet in A minor, Op. 84, a late work written around the same time as Elgar's cello concerto. Shostakovich: Violin Concertos Nos. 1 & 2

State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia, Yevgeny Svetlanov conducting
Violinist Alina Ibragimova records both of Shostakovich's violin concerto, along with the rarely performed original opening to the Burlesque of No. 1, which was subsequently revised at the request of the work's dedicatee, David Oistrakh.
