Welcome to "For the Record," Violinist.com's weekly roundup of new releases of recordings by violinists, violists, cellists and other classical musicians. We hope it helps you keep track of your favorite artists, as well as find some new ones to add to your listening!
Alexandra Conunova makes her debut recording on the Aparte label, together with pianist Michael Lifits. "The repertoire is close to Alexandra's heart: the contrasting Violin Sonatas by Prokofiev - one of deep anguish, the other of simplicity and lyricism - providing a synthesis of Prokofiev’s style." BELOW: In tandem with the recording, supported by the Borletti-Buitoni Trust, John Blanch made this short film that explores the artists' relationship with the composer.
Here is the fifth and final recording in a series from violinist Alina Ibragimova and pianist Cédric Tiberghien, featuring Mozart's Violin Sonatas K11, 12, 302, 380 & 526 alongside the Piano Sonata K570 and Variations in G major K359. BELOW: Excerpts from the album.
If you have a new recording you would like us to consider for inclusion in our Thursday "For the Record" feature, please e-mail Editor Laurie Niles. Be sure to include the name of your album, a link to it and a short description of what it includes.Tweet
