Winners of Sphinx Competition 2013

The winners of the 2013 Sphinx Competition in Detroit were announced Sunday. Congratulations to all participants!

A broadcast of last Sunday's Finals Concert, featuring the Senior Division winners performing with the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Anthony Elliott, will be available on demand at the Detroit Public TV website after Feb. 24.

Here are the 2013 Sphinx Competition Laureates:

SENIOR DIVISION:

First place
Cellist Christine Lamprea, 22, from New England Conservatory

Second Place
Violist Dana Kelly, 22, of New England Conservatory

Third Place
Bassist Nicholas Villalobos, 25, of Phoenix, Arizona


JUNIOR DIVISION:

First Place
Cellist Lev Mamuya, 16, of West Roxbury, Massachusetts

Second Place
Cellist Sterling Elliott, 13, of Newport News, Virginia

Third Place
Violinist Annelle Gregory, 17, of San Diego, California
