The City of Sydney Funds The Launch of World Musician's Day

December 18, 2012 21:23

We’re excited to announce that the City of Sydney is officially sponsoring Musomap to launch World Musician's Day in Sydney, on Saturday April 6th 2013. A family friendly & free lunchtime event.

Every musician, professional / amateur & hobbyist, is invited to be get involved in this paid music opportunity. We’ll be working with a variety of groups in addition to the City of Sydney such as MusicaViva, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Australian Institute of Music, Shop Front, social food initiatives, local councils, cultural exchange programs and many other organisations.

How much will I get paid?

Musomap, with the support of City of Sydney's Cultural Fund's Grant Program, will pay each selected act $500 in advance.

How do I get involved?

  1. Plot yourself on the The Global Map of Musicians. Every musician is welcome.

  2. Share your spot with fellow musicians & invite them to join.

  3. Get your profile ranking in "Sydney's Top 10" through the recommendation of fellow musicians!!!

That's it. The Top 10 Musicians in Sydney, recommended by the world's musicians, will get the gig.

What music should I play?

Play your favourite music for 1 hour, people have recommended you because they like your music! No electricity will be provided.

How is Musomap going to manage this process of selection?

Working with a variety social networks, Google and other technology partners, we have a number of ways of assessing every recommendation to make sure this event celebrates the real life musicians that represent the community. Please respect this process as we are all in this together.

The team at musomap would love to have your support and feedback so please write to use with your thoughts, questions, concerns and ideas.

In addition to featuring the Top 10 Sydney Musicians, this event is open to every musician. It's an invitation to bring your instrument and get involved. Stay tuned as we'll be released more information on this major collaboration effort over the coming months.
