Here an unknown but beautiful walse during the new year skating race on the 5 km artificial ice track in Holland:
Hi Bram,
Thanks for the waltz and the view of marathon speed skating. We don't get to see much marathon skating here in the US as the long and short track events are the only ones practiced. Was that Bert Hulsebooch in the black Nefit suit?
Yes it was Erik Hulzebosch, now 39 and skating his last season. He was 2th in the last 200 km 11-cityrace. (winner Henk Angenent stopped last season) The wals is the Sphärenklänge Walzer, op.235 written in 1868 composer: Josef? Strauss. Here the whole version: Strauss Spharenklange Walzer Neujahrskonzert 2009 - Wiener Philharmonker - Daniel Barenboim
Here Erik Hulzebosch as 2th during the 11-cityrace in 1997:
Thanks again, Bram. I hope the temperatures stay well below 0C in Holland so that there will be another Elfstedentocht. Here in Wisconsin, USA we are having a great winter for XC skiing and ice skating. Sorry to Erik Hulzebosch for butchering his name.
