I heard 3 rare violinconcerto's in 2 days, Lindberg, Larcher, Conus

January 31, 2010 08:55

Last weekend was quite busy, because I heard 3 rare violinconcerto's in 2 days. The last one was of Julius Conus played by Lisa Jacobs,

Some years ago she also plays the rare Nielsen violinconcerto. Perhaps I have to wait 20 years to hear this piece again , perhaps I will never hear it again. Also the former concertmaster of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Rudolf Koelman has played Conus on cd 20 years ago, which is now on Youtube, just as the version of the teacher of Rudolf Jascha Heifetz. Rudolf was enthousiastic that Lisa Jacobs plays this piece in Lier near Antwerpen in Belgie.

That midday I was in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam where the German violinist Isabelle Faust plays the violinconcerto of Larcher. During the 2th movement she broke her eing, so after a short break of some seconds she ended that movement with the violin of the concertmaster of that orchestra. Thereafter he concertmaster had a reserve-eing and attached it on the violin of Isabelle Faust and they changed after a 2 minute break of instruments and played on their own instruments the 3th movement. Quite clever to have with you a reserve- E ing to shorten the time after breaking a string.

The evening before I was with a friend to the Georgian Lisa Bathisvili who played with the concertgeboouw orchestra the violinconcerto of the Finnish composer Lindberg who was also in the audience. After the modern violin concerto she did not play the well known conservarory Bach/Paganini encore pieces but a piece from Georgia. (Better than Faust , because Faust played the well known Bach again)

After the concert it was possible to ask question to 3 members of the Concertgebouw orchestra, composer Lindberg, Lisa Bathiasvili and someone of the management of the orchestra.

I forget to asked why the Royal Concertgbouw orchestra still has no Youtubechannel, just like the Rotterdam Philharmonic or the Berliner Philharmoniker.

Does the Pasadena orchestra already has a Youtube-channel?
