Exercises to Hold the Violin for Children and Adults

August 9, 2013 at 3:24 PM

Teaching the violin hold to young children can be a challenge. It is very important that one starts off with an excellent foundation of a violin hold. It is also important for the health of the body that the violin hold is correct. It is possible after many years of holding the violin incorrectly that the body of the violinist may grow incorrectly. TRUE !! It is so important to develop the muscles to help hold the violin. A little bit every day is important - not too much all at once. Also, make sure that the student has the correct size. Too big of a violin can do damage as well. Please check out my violin size video if you have any questions about how to find the right size. In these videos, I also discuss some games that are great for group lessons !! Make sure to have a carpeted floor. A little dangerous to do these games on a hardwood or tile floor in case the violin falls :)
Enjoy the videos.

PS The videos were recorded in the winter with no heat. I was seriously freezing when I made them :)
